It upsets me that this article is real.
HOW DARE YOU EVEN COMPARE YOURSELF TO CORMAC MCCARTHY. YOUR BOOKS ARE TYPICAL, SAPPY, SENTIMENTAL PIECES OF CRAP. A horde of weeping teenage girls DOES NOT make your novels moving.
Normally I’d feel bad for posting this because I know people who love your work, but this is outrageous.
/rant.
Whoa. Gozick would be pissed.
I feel like Nicholas Sparks is one of those authors, like Jodi Picoult or Sarah Dessen, who write a book and it automatically becomes popular among little teenage girls, just because HE or SHE wrote it. Then people have the nerve to call themselves ‘a book worm’ just because they read those authors’ books, and ONLY those authors’ books. I can’t comment on how they write because I’ve never read any of their books and I doubt I ever will, but whenever I hear any of their names, I think of young love — tough misunderstood guy and innocent, optimistic girl — that has a little turbulence along the way (one that could easily be solved if they just sat down and talked) with a soft colors like pink and purple and a beach. Not my kind of style.
OR TWILIGHT. i know Sarah Dessen. like reading one or two of those books is fun/entertaining but they are all the same. especially Nicholas Sparks. people fall in love, go through some tough spot, fall back in love, then one person dies and the main character has some revelation/epiphany about life. it’s freaking annoying. i am going to discuss this with Mr. Gozick.
I’ve only read The Notebook, and I didn’t think it was that amazing. It was just okay.
